About Sint Marteen
Sint Maarten shares island in the Caribbean together with Saint Martin. While Saint Martin is 53 square kilometres and is the French division of the island, Sint Maarten is an overseas territory of The Netherlands with 34 square kilometres and a population of 37,429 (2010). The two countries share an island under the treaty of Concordia and they also have in common the status of a grand tourist attraction and salt as a natural resource. Dutch is the official language of Sint Maarten but English is widely spoken along with Spanish.
