ACS Secretary-General holds a meeting with Venezuelan Ambassador

On January 17, 2025, Her Excellency Noemi Espinoza Madrid, Secretary-General of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), held a productive meeting with His Excellency Álvaro Sánchez, Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Trinidad and Tobago. During the meeting, they discussed strategies to strengthen regional integration and address shared challenges.

Secretary-General Espinoza envisions a revitalized ACS that will reclaim its historical role as a cornerstone of regional cooperation and, under her leadership, emerge as a major player in the Caribbean and beyond. She outlined her aspirations to mobilise strategic alliances and coordinate actions aimed at  fostering economic, social, and cultural development, as well as enhancing environmental protection.

This revitalization effort prioritizes proactive engagement with Member States and key stakeholders aims to position the Gran Caribe as a strategic actor within the region and on the global stage. It seeks to promote dialogue and collaboration on critical issues such as trade, transportation, tourism, and disaster risk reduction.

Secretary-General emphasized that the world, and particularly this region, is experiencing a pivotal moment where unifying and amplifying a Latin American and Caribbean voice is essential to confronting global dynamics that perpetuate inequalities and impact pressing areas such as climate change, migration, and global governance.

In this context, fostering dialogue, active engagement, and cooperation among Member States on these critical issues is fundamental to realizing the aspiration of a Gran Caribe that effectively responds to the urgent needs and expectations of our peoples.
