About El Salvador
The Republic of El Salvador is located in Central America, north of the equator and west of Greenwich Mediriano. Bordered on the north by the Republic of Honduras, to the south by the Pacific Ocean (321 km of coastline), on the east by the Republic of Honduras and the Republic of Nicaragua (Gulf of Fonseca in between), and to the west by the Republic of Guatemala. Currently, the service sector employs 58.5% of the active population and contributes 60.5% of GDP.
Moreover, the area of agriculture, forestry and fishing employ about 25.5% of the workforce and contributes 11.2% of GDP. The industry employs 15.8% of the workforce and contributes 20.6% of GDP. Today, coffee represents approximately 5.4% of export earnings.
