ACS will host a webinar on the theme, Investing in Multi-hazard Early Warning Systems to Empower those Most at Risk.

The Association of Caribbean States (ACS) is pleased to invite you to a virtual webinar entitled “Investing in Multi-hazard Early Warning Systems to Empower those Most at Risk” which will be held on October 11 2022 at 9:00 AM (GMT-4) in anticipation of International Disaster Risk Reduction Day 2022.

The United Nations General Assembly has designated October 13th as the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction to promote a global culture of disaster risk reduction. In 2016, the UN Secretary-General launched “The Sendai Seven Campaign” to promote each of the seven targets over seven years. The 2022 target is Target G: “Substantially increase the availability of and access to multi-hazard early warning systems and disaster risk information and assessments to people by 2030”.

The webinar will feature key speakers from the Association of Caribbean States, The Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA), the Kyoto University, the Office for Disaster Preparedness and Management of Trinidad and Tobago (ODPM TT), the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction Regional Office for the Americas and the Caribbean (UNDRR ROAMC), the Caribbean Meteorological Organisation (CMO) and CADENA.

We would greatly value your participation in this free event to learn more about early warning systems and their importance in the Caribbean.
