About Dominica
The Commonwealth of Dominica is located in the Windward Islands group of the West Indies between Guadeloupe and Martinique. The capital is Roseau and the major export is bananas. The agriculture, forestry and fishing sector employs approximately one-quarter of the working population and contributes 20 per cent of GDP. Industry employs one-fifth of the workforce and contributes 18 per cent of GDP, while the services sector employs 55 per cent of the workforce and contributes 62 per cent of GDP.
In 2005, there were 78, 621 stay-over visitors, 676 excursionists and 301, 511 cruise-ship passengers, and visitor expenditure amounted to $56 million.
