This meeting was a continuation of the VI Meeting of the Drafting Committee of the IX Summit of Heads of State and/or Government of the ACS. At the previous meeting, important progress was made in the drafting of the new plan of action thanks to the intervention of the representatives of the Member States.

At this meeting, the importance of Sustainable Tourism was discussed and the SG highlighted the need to enunciate the SDGs so that they are taken into account when developing products, thus allowing the incorporation of SMEs in the development of the offers.

The Director of the Directorate for Disaster Risk Reduction, Environment and the Caribbean Sea, Ana Ramirez added: "Sustainable tourism will have an impact on all the SDGs, because its different aspects go directly to the issue of ending poverty, zero hunger, health and well-being, and definitely quality education because there will be a direct impact on it".

Important criteria were defined at this meeting, but the work on the development of the action plan will continue at a later date.
