ACS & The Commonwealth Exploring Cooperation

Secretary General Rodolfo Sabonge and Director of Trade and Sustainable Development Safiya Horne-Bique met with the Legal Advisor of the Directorate of Trade, Oceans & Natural Resources of the Commonwelath Secretariat, Rosemarie Cadogan, to discuss similarities in the work programmes of the ACS and the Commonwealth. Since both institutions share similar work areas, discussions centered on synergy in maritime trade, oceans and natural resources and connectivity, intra-trade flows, the cruise industry and improvements in transport. The ACS and the Commonwealth Secretariat are currently in the process of preparing an MOU and as evidence of this cooperation, the ACS has agreed to participate in the Commonwealth Secretariat’s e-learning course for Caribbean Regional Maritime Administrations and Ocean Governance Committees, scheduled to take place in the third quarter of this year.
