ACS and Italy discuss cooperation in Sustainable Development

His Excellency Gianni Piccato, Special Envoy for the Caribbean of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met with Ana Leticia Ramirez Cuevas - ACS Director for Disaster Risk Reduction, Environment and the Caribbean Sea and Lisa Douglas-Paul - ACS Advisor for Cooperation and Resource Mobilization, on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at the ACS Secretariat.
The meeting focused finalising a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the field of Sustainable Development, which involves Italy’s initiatives within CARICOM countries, as well as discussing matters of mutual interest towards the strengthening of relations and cooperation efforts between the ACS and the Italian Republic. They also discussed potential projects related to regional cooperation, sustainable tourism promotion and capacity building, maritime connectivity, climate change and coastal management, institutional strengthening through project management, and cooperation through academia and university networking, in addition to the possible signing of an MoU to further these efforts.
The meeting ended with both parties reiterating their commitment to continued dialogue and to the strengthening of cooperation initiatives.
