ACS strengthens cooperation with the World Food Program

My media alt attribute

ACS held a meeting with the World Food Program (WFP) to enhance cooperation and identify synergies to tackle pressing challenges in the Caribbean region, such as food security, resilience, disaster preparedness and climate crisis mitigation.

WFP serves as the logistical arm for humanitarian affairs, particularly in disaster preparedness logistics. They strategically pre-positioned food and supplies across the region to ensure rapid emergency response. Their presence in Panama and the establishment of a Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) Hub in Barbados underscore their commitment to efficient disaster relief efforts.

They also collaborate with governments on digitalization and utilize innovative technologies like drones and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to enhance preparedness and response capabilities.

Both organisations will maintain discussions through technical meetings, with the aim of translating shared knowledge into concrete actions for a more resilient and food-secure Caribbean region in the face of various challenges.
