The Greater Caribbean Climate Mobility Initiative (GCCMI) coordinates Modeling Workshop

The Association of Caribbean States (ACS), with the support of the Global Climate Mobility Centre (GCCM), and in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the World Bank, coordinated a Modelling Workshop as part of the Greater Caribbean Climate Mobility Initiative (GCCMI).
The objective of the GCCMI is to address climate-forced displacement in the Greater Caribbean by generating political momentum, a shared policy agenda and resources, and this productive session, attended by the Technical Advisory Group, served to review and validate models and research results, generate shared analysis, explore policy implications, and foster a community of practice that promotes knowledge-sharing and collaboration.
Further virtual consultation workshops will be coordinated, involving academia, civil society, policy makers, representatives of Greater Caribbean regional institutions and international organisations, philanthropy and the private sector, to translate the modelling and research results into a shared analysis and narrative that reflects the perspectives of different levels of governance, sectors and stakeholder groups. This process will last 7 months, from October 2023 to June 2024, and will conclude with the development of the GCCMI Report and Action Agenda.
