Secretary General of the ACS to visit Haiti

(Port of Spain, January 5th 2012) The Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States, His Excellency Luis Fernando Andrade Falla was invited by the President of Haiti, His Excellency Michel Martelly to visit this ACS Member Country from January 8th – 12th 2012.

The Secretary General will also be accompanied by a delegation from the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate Business School, headed by the Executive Director Miguel Carrillo.

Some of the matters that are tabled for discussion are a follow up of interests expressed by His Excellency Martelly during his visit to Trinidad and Tobago in December 2012.

Last year, President Martelly disclosed his country’s intention to host an ACS Summit in July of 2012. This Summit will gather business leaders from Trinidad and Tobago and across the region.

He further explained that his country is open to welcoming business and investment to Haiti as he seeks to position and develop Haiti as a viable destination for foreign investment. He then invited the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business to open a graduate school in his country.

During this visit, he also indicated his country’s interest in building closer ties with Central America and other ACS countries and agreed to visit Guatemala for the inauguration ceremony of the new Guatemalan Government.

In this regard, Secretary General Andrade Falla will accompany the Haitian delegation to Guatemala to highlight ACS programmes and initiatives for the region.
