Secretary General of the ACS will attend the 19th Inter-American Travel Congress

Port of Spain, (September 28th 2011) The Secretary General of the ACS will attend the 19th Inter-American Travel Congress which will take place in San Salvador, El Salvador, on September 29 and 30, 2011. The theme of this year’s congress is Tourism: A Challenge for Addressing Poverty.

The meeting will facilitate exchanges of experiences and best practices in the area of sustainable tourism. It also offers the possibility of providing a mechanism for sponsoring technical studies, strengthening communications among government agencies and the private sector, and studying technical cooperation proposals intended to support the member states’ efforts to develop the tourism sector.

The Secretary General will host bilateral meetings with the Heads of Delegations of OAS member states as well as other key partners.This event will also be attended by President of the Republic of El Salvador, His Excellency Mauricio Funes, Minister of Tourism of El Salvador, the Honourable José Napoleón Duarte, Secretary General of the OAS, José Miguel Insulza, Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization, Mr. Taleb Rifai as well as other high ranking tourism authorities in the region.
