Secretary General Múnera congratulates Prime Minister of The Bahamas on success in general elections

Port of Spain (May 18, 2012) – The Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), Ambassador Alfonso Múnera Cavadía, congratulated the newly elected Prime Minister of The Bahamas, the Honourable Perry Christie, on his victory in the general elections held on Monday, May 7.
In a letter to Prime Minister Christie, Secretary General Múnera wrote, “I have the honour to write on this occasion to express congratulations following success at the recent elections in your country.”
Secretary General Múnera took the opportunity to cement the already close working relationship with The Bahamas. He indicated that “The Bahamas is a valued Member State of the ACS and the Secretariat looks forward to continue a close working relationship with your Government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, as we pursue mutual goals and objectives in the interest of our Wider Caribbean region.”
Prime Minister Christie is the leader of the Progressive Liberal Party and he previously held the position of Prime Minister from 2002 to 2007.
