SG Sabonge Meets with the Ambassador of the Dominican Republic

Secretary General Rodolfo Sabonge met with Ambassador of the Dominican Republic Jose Serulle, representative of the Chair at the Secretariat in Port-of-Spain. They had a wide-ranging discussion about the Greater Caribbean on many issues: transport, trade, tourism, observers to the ACS, digital transformation, and the protection of the Caribbean Sea.
“We have to safeguard the Caribbean Sea and ensure its survival and well-being. It is the crown jewel of the region and I think it is what unites us, and therefore, it is our responsibility to protect it. I think that there are opportunities now that are very different to those in 1994 when we were established. Now we are in a phase of transformation and we as a region can offer services, not only goods, and the full spectrum of services.”
Ambassador Serulle congratulated the Secretary General and assured him of full support. “I am a great defender of the figure of the Secretary General. We must grant it all of the resources and possibilities for it to perform well. Our duty is to support the Secretary General.”
SG Sabonge said he will work to create a space for all Members of the ACS to work together towards the sustainable development of the region. “We want all of the countries to work together, one team, one mission. That will be key for all of us to move forward in the same direction.
