Strategic Foreign Policy Thinking

The Association of Caribbean States (ACS) attended the CAF-LSE Capacity Building Programme held from December 2 to 6, 2024, in Montevideo, Uruguay. This programme, themed "Strategic Foreign Policy Thinking for 21st Century Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC)", brought together policymakers, academics, and regional experts to explore foreign policy strategies that address the dynamic global and regional landscape.

Hosted by the CAF – Development Bank of Latin America and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), the programme featured key sessions on topics including:

  • New World Order, Old Powers, New Powers, & New IGOs
  • Development, Geopolitics and Latin America and the Caribbean
  • Latin America and the Caribbean and the Global South
  • Strategic Foreign Policy

Representing the ACS were Secretary General H.E. Rodolfo Sabonge and Ms. Tricia Barrow, Chief Executive Coordinator. As the organization prepares for its 10th Summit of Heads of State, scheduled for May 2025 in Colombia, and the preparation of the first ACS Strategic Plan, its participation in this programme underscores the ACS's commitment to knowledge and informed exchange on matters affecting the Greater Caribbean development trajectory, and strategies for addressing a rapidly changing global environment.
