Secretary General of the ACS attended the International Tourism Fair in Venezuela
(Port of Spain, October 23rd 2011) The Secretary General of ACS, on the invitation of the Ministry of Tourism of Venezuela, attended the International Tourism Fair of Venezuela (FITVEN) in Margarita, Nueva Esparta state on October 23rd 2011. The meeting was also attended by the Venezuelan Minister of Tourism, Alexander Flemming and the Secretary General of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO), Hugh Riley.
Secretary General Andrade Falla described the meeting as very productive. He opined that Venezuela has shown its commitment to strengthening the brotherhood of the countries of the region. Ambassador Andrade Falla further indicated that the intention was to establish the Caribbean as a region with great potential, interaction and challenges. He expressed that the Association is moving forward on a work plan for the input of concrete ideas.
The Secretary General Hugh Riley then expressed appreciation for the tourist potential offered by the island of Margarita. He informed that despite the economic crisis, the Caribbean islands have managed to maintain a good performance in the area of tourism.The meeting was fruitful and delegates discussed the initiative to promote a wider Caribbean tourism fair for 2012.
