SECRETARY GENERAL OF THE ACS CONGRATULATES NEW PRESIDENT OF THE BOLIVARIAN REPUBLIC OF VENEZUELA

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago (April 16th, 2013) –  The Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States extends congratulatory greetings to the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, following the victory of newly elected President, His Excellency Nicholás Maduro Moros in the elections of Sunday 14th 2013.

His Excellency Alfonso Múnera expressed his pleasure at the outcome, voicing his desire to see continued progress, prosperity and peace in the nation of Venezuela and its people.

The Secretary General also underscored the importance and invaluable contribution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Association of Caribbean States, as a Founding Member State of the Association, acknowledging and extending gratitude for their continued commitment to purpose and objectives of the ACS.

His Excellency, Múnera, maintains that the Association of Caribbean States and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela will continue to work together, as they strive towards realizing the vision of a more united and thriving Greater Caribbean – a fitting call for further cooperative efforts within the region, as the Association approaches its V Summit of the Heads of State and/or Government to be held next week in Pétion Ville, Haiti between the period April 23rd to 26th.
