ACS and ECLAC meet on Prioritizing Gender Equality in Strategic Development Plans for Latin America and the Caribbean

Santiago, Chile – April 2, 2025 –  H.E. Noemí Espinoza Madrid, ACS Secretary-General, met with Ana Güezmes García, Director of the Gender Affairs Division at the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), during the Forum of the Countries of Latin America and the Caribbean on Sustainable Development in Chile.

The necessity of incorporating gender as a fundamental element in all initiatives, was emphasized during this meeting, which reflects the shared commitment of both organisations to gender equality and empowerment. They also addressed ACS strategic planning and technical cooperation between the two entities, highlighting South-South and triangular cooperation as key approaches to promote sustainable development.

Both leaders agreed on the importance of ACS actively participating in ECLAC meetings to reinforce the organisation’s role in regional dialogues. They also recognized the need for continued collaboration in critical areas essential for the region's development.
