High-level meeting between the ACS and Cuba to strengthen regional integratio

Havana, Cuba – March 27, 2025 – The Secretary-General of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), H.E. Noemí Espinoza Madrid, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, H.E. Bruno Eduardo Rodríguez Parrilla.
During the meeting, Secretary-General Espinoza Madrid expressed her gratitude for the warm reception from the Government of Cuba and highlighted the importance of Cuba's collaboration in strengthening the ACS.
Minister Rodríguez Parrilla addressed crucial issues for Cuba and the region, including the preservation of the Caribbean Sea. Likewise, the Minister reaffirmed the Cuban Government's commitment to the ACS and to the work of the Secretary-General.
Secretary-General Espinoza referred to the revitalization process of the ACS, initiated at the Havana Summit, and shared her vision on the ongoing strategic planning exercise. In this context, she noted the importance of the Caribbean Sea and the region as a "zone of peace," which would allow the ACS to position itself regionally and internationally. Furthermore, she recognized Cuba's leadership in the Caribbean Sea Commission and reiterated her support for achieving a consensus position on oceans and access to financing for these purposes.
Food security was also a key issue in the meeting. It was considered as a potential priority area within the ACS's strategic planning exercise, with the aim of strengthening regional cooperation and ensuring sustainable and inclusive development in the Greater Caribbean.
