ACS pledges support to those affected by Hurricane Sandy in Haiti

Port of Spain (November 02, 2012) – The Secretariat of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), expresses its solidarity and condolences to the people and government of Haiti affected by the recent disaster due to the passage of the tropical storm Sandy on November 1st, 2012.
The ACS Secretariat pledges its full support to the Government and the People of Haiti in the wake of the deaths and damage caused during the passage of the tropical storm. In addition, the Secretariat manifests its full readiness to provide the necessary assistance in mobilization of resources to the Government and the People of Haiti.
The Secretariat reiterates its availability to assist Haiti and the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), as appropriate to ACS mandates, and awaits further news from Haitian authorities on the country’s situation and needs as determined by its national experts.
