ACS Secretary General and Ambassador of the Dominican Republic discuss cooperation

Port of Spain (May 4, 2012) – The Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), Ambassador Alfonso Múnera Cavadía met with Ambassador of the Dominican Republic in Trinidad and Tobago, His Excellency José Serulle Ramia at the ACS Headquarters.
On this occasion, Ambassador Serulle highlighted the importance of an organization like the ACS and reiterated the commitment of the Dominican Republic to deepen the institutional ties between the Association and his country. He also underscored Dominican Republic’s willingness to support the ACS in achieving its goals of regional integration and cooperation, working through the areas of Trade, Transport, Sustainable Tourism and Natural Disasters. He further expressed great interest in the upcoming V Summit of the ACS which will tentatively take place in Haiti in November this year.
The Dominican Republic is a Member of the Association of Caribbean States, and currently holds the position of Chairman of the Special Committee on Disaster Risk Reduction.
