ACS Secretary General on official mission to Haiti

Port of Spain, (April 26, 2012) – Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), Ambassador Alfonso Múnera Cavadía, is currently accompanying the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, Ms. Maria Ángela Holguín, on official mission to Haiti where they will hold discussions on hosting the ACS Summit in Haiti with her Haitian counterpart, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Laurent Lamothe.
This visit marks the first official mission of Secretary General Múnera since commencing his term in office on April 11th and provides a valuable opportunity in cementing bilateral relations between member states Colombia and Haiti. Furthermore, the decision to host the V ACS Summit this year will be a critical subject as ACS seeks to work together with Haiti's government in promoting and fostering a positive outlook of cooperation with Haiti at a regional and international level.
Regional integration is of paramount importance to Secretary General Múnera, hence, he is looking forward to using the ACS as a vehicle whereby cordial relations will be fostered among member states both at the bilateral and multilateral levels.
