Belize Celebrates 40th Independence Anniversary

The Secretariat of the Association of Caribbean States congratulates Member State Belize as the people and government celebrate the 40th anniversary of independence.
On September 21, 1981, Belize declared its independence from Britain, having once been known as British Honduras.
Belize is part of the Caricom sub-grouping of countries in the ACS Membership. Belize was chair of the 8th Ministerial Council of the ACS in 2002, and hosted the Ministerial Meeting.
