The Central American Commission for Maritime Transport (COCATRAM) together with the ACS presents “Map of Maritime Routes in the Greater Caribbean

(Port of Spain, October 14th 2011) The Association of Caribbean States hosted a very important meeting in which Pedro Suarez Reyes from the Ministry of Transport of Cuba and Chair of the Special Committee of Transport of the ACS and Jose Dopeso, Director of Port and Maritime Affairs, COCATRAM, presented an update on the advancements of the project, ‘Map of Maritime Routes in the Greater Caribbean’ to Secretary General Luis Fernando Andrade Falla and Eduardo Gonzalez Angulo, Director of Transport.
Also in attendance were Ariadna Perez, Director of Trade and Mathieu Fontanaud, Advisor to the Transport Directorate. Mr. Dopeso began the presentation by unveiling a new tool that enables persons to track and assess the various maritime routes that exist within the Latin American and Caribbean regions and Europe by extension. He explained that through this tool the viability of ports and their level of competitiveness can also be analysed which is useful to both government and private sector in terms of investment and resource allocation. This project is already in its second phase and is useful for all the Member States of the ACS.
