III MEETING OF THE PETIT COMMITTEE TO DRAFT THE DECLARATION OF HAITI

Port of Spain, (November, 29, 2012) – Representatives of ACS Member Countries gathered at the ACS Headquarters to attend the III Meeting of the Petit Committee to Draft the Declaration of Haiti on 29th November, 2012.
Secretary General of the ACS, Ambassador Alfonso Múnera and the Mr Tomás Duncan Jurado, Director General of Economic International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Panama in his capacity as Chairman of the Ministerial Council, addressed delegates during the opening ceremony of the meeting. The Chair then conducted the proceedings and invited delegates to make comments according to the topics tabled for discussion.
This meeting is one of various meetings held to analyze and discuss the Draft Declaration and Draft Plan of Action, with a view to their approval for presentation to the Fifth Extraordinary Meeting of the Ministerial Council. The Draft Declaration and Draft Plan of Action documents will subsequently be submitted at the V ACS Summit which will take place in Haiti in 2012. The theme of the V Summit is Revitalizing the Vision of the Association of Caribbean States for a Stronger and More United Greater Caribbean.
Sub-Commissions were appointed to function as the organs of the Petit Committee. These Sub-Commissions are comprised of various Member States who formulate the Draft Declaration and Draft Plan of Action documents.
The Chair closed the meeting and thanked delegates for their participation and contributions.
