Joint Press Release - VII Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) - [ACS, CELAC, SELA, SICA, ALADI, CARICOM, CAN, MERCOSUR, ALBA-TCP]

Buenos Aires, January 24, 2023 - In the context of the VII Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), the Secretaries of the following regional and integration organisations met in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, as observers: the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA), the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), the Central American Integration System (SICA), the Andean Community (CAN), the Latin American Integration Association (ALADI), the Community of Caribbean States (CARICOM), the Presidency pro tempore of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), and the Presidency pro tempore of the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) continuing with the works carried out during the Forum "Responding to challenges of integration for the development of Latin America and the Caribbean. Proposals from regional and subregional integration mechanisms," held on 16 December 2022 in Buenos Aires. They agreed to strengthen strategic partnerships that allow them to move forward and contribute to the construction of a programme that responds with concrete actions to the needs of Latin America and the Caribbean.
In this regard, they also agreed to join their efforts in defining common areas that lead to regional strategies, identifying cooperation mechanisms and strengthening their links, in order to consolidate partnerships in favour of Latin America and the Caribbean, within the framework of the mandates of their respective memberships.
