ACS Secretary-General Meets with Ambassador of Dominica to Discuss Regional Priorities

Bridgetown, Barbados – February 20, 2025 – The Secretary-General of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), H.E. Noemí Espinoza Madrid, met with Dr. Gerard Jean-Jacques, Ambassador of Dominica to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), during the 48th Regular Meeting of CARICOM Heads of Government in Bridgetown, Barbados.
During the meeting, Ambassador Jean-Jacques welcomed the Secretary-General's initiative to engage with Member States to understand their priorities and assess how the ACS can best serve the region. He highlighted the significant challenges posed by climate change, noting that regional efforts are increasingly focused on enhancing resilience, achieving self-sufficiency, and prioritizing energy security.
He expressed the expectation that the ACS would play a critical role in mobilizing resources to support energy security initiatives and assist countries in addressing these challenges. Dominica, in particular, seeks resources to develop its energy infrastructure, strengthen capacity building in the power sector, and promote sustainable practices.
Secretary-General Espinoza Madrid emphasized food security as a shared priority, affirming her commitment to advancing this agenda within the ACS framework. She reflected on the similarities among ACS Member States, emphasizing the Caribbean's role as a unifying force.
The ACS remains committed to fostering dialogue and collaboration among its Member States to address regional challenges and advance sustainable development in the Greater Caribbean.
