CAF and ACS explore alliances to address challenges in the Caribbean and Latin America

ACS and CAF at CARICOM

Bridgetown, Barbados — February 20, 2025 — The Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), H.E. Noemí Espinoza Madrid, held a meeting with Sergio Díaz-Granados, Executive President of the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), within the framework of the 48th Ordinary Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM in Bridgetown, Barbados, with the aim of exploring collaboration opportunities to strengthen regional development and integration.

The Secretary General highlighted that this meeting represents a valuable opportunity to strengthen the presence and relevance of the ACS on the global agenda. She emphasized the importance of countries in the region adopting common positions in international forums on crucial issues such as ocean protection and climate change, with the aim of improving the quality of life of their citizens.

During the meeting, the increasing connection of Caribbean countries with CAF was highlighted, stressing that CAF seeks to consolidate a network of allies in the region to improve connectivity and serve as a key partner in the execution of projects. Despite significant progress, important challenges remain, and in this regard, CAF's interest in collaborating with the ACS to address these challenges was reiterated.

This meeting reaffirms the commitment of the ACS and CAF to strengthen regional cooperation and work together for the benefit of the Caribbean and Latin America.
