ACS Secretary General meets with T&T Meteorological Services
Port of Spain (April 13, 2010) – The Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), Ambassador Luis Fernando Andrade Falla met with Mr. Emmanuel Moolchan, Director, Trinidad & Tobago Meteorological Services on 8 April at the Association’s Headquarters in Port of Spain.
This meeting was organised within the context of the proposed cooperation between the ACS and the Government of Finland through the Finnish Institute of Meteorology, who is offering the regional support that can facilitate the strengthening of systems and meteorological capabilities of Trinidad and Tobago.
Ambassador Andrade reiterated the very important role that the Trinidad & Tobago Meteorological Services could play in this process which signifies a boost for regional meteorology.
Furthermore, the meeting exchanged views on the possibility of proposing to the Member Countries of the ACS that they declare a national day for the prevention of disasters, and also that they should strengthen areas of investigation and development in the area of meteorology.
The ACS Secretary General expressed his appreciation to Mr. Moolchan and the Trinidad & Tobago Meteorological Services for their interest and they agreed to explore future opportunities to collaborate in these initiatives.
