The Dominican Republic hosts 1st World Eco-Tourism and Production Fair
On October 18th-26th 2014, Santiago de los Caballeros, the second largest city in the Dominican Republic, will welcome representatives from approximately 70 countries for the 1st World Eco-Tourism and Production Fair.
Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to Trinidad and Tobago, His Excellency José Arnaldo Serulle Ramia, one of the organizers of this event, indicated that this Fair promotes local development as it links productive activities to the community. He further posited that Eco-Tourism and Production Fairs create awareness amongst people, which enables them to seek new opportunities to develop themselves.
The event organised by the “Fundación Ciencia y Arte” and the Mayor’s Office of Santiago, together with the support of government institutions, private companies and community organizations as well as both regional and international cooperation agencies will showcase the country’s eco-tourism offers, such as sustainable development programmes and projects.
A key feature of this event will be the role which the Dominican Republic has taken to promote the country’s Cibao region; the country’s most important agricultural region.
Those participating in this event will exhibit local products, services and projects. Additional activities include conferences, workshops, business roundtables and sporting events. In keeping with the theme, tours to attractive eco-tourist destinations in neighbouring cities and towns will be available.
