The Caribbean Economic History Association (Asociación de Historia Económica del Caribe, AHEC) and the University of the West Indies (UWI) in Trinidad and Tobago will be hosting the 3rd Annual Conference of the AHEC to be held at the St. Augustine Campus of the UWI in Trinidad and Tobago from 4th to 8th November 2015, entitled, “The History of Investment in the Caribbean.”

The conference is an event that brings stakeholders together for edu­cation, inspiration and scholarly exchange. It has grown over the years and at this, the 3rd gathering, it is expected that 120 pre­senters from more than 20 countries, three continents and over 60 different research institutions will participate.

Keynote speakers include Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, Vice Chancellor of the University of the West Indies and His Excellency Alfonso Múnera, Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS).

The Conference will consider panels and papers on the evolution of investment in the Caribbean from the 15th century to the present; the movement of capital flows into and out of the greater region; and the incorporation of the Caribbean into global economies and markets over the past centuries.

It will also consider panels and papers on the flow of investments, its sources and destinations and the impact of these flows on the region’s economy and society, in micro and macro terms.

Collaborating organisations and institutions include, the ACS, the Caribbean Development Bank, the Embassy of Spain, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Embassy of the United Mexican States and the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba.
