EU, ECLAC and ACS Discuss Sustainable Development Post-COVID

The initiative, the joint effort of the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (UN ECLAC), The European Commission, the OECD and its Development Centre, will seek to improve policy dialogue between Europe and the Latin America and Caribbean region. The organisations are providing the forum for policy-makers to discuss post-pandemic recovery in regional integration and global value chains, social protection systems, gender, primary healthcare, regional and international partnerships.

Latin America and the Caribbean has been one of the regions hardest hit by the pandemic. There has been a 7% decrease in GDP, while there have been over a million casualties of the pandemic, along with the loss of the livelihoods of thousands of people. At the discussions, there will be the opportunity to formulate regional responses to the problems caused by the pandemic.
