RESOLUTION TO SUPPORT THE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION UNDERTAKEN BY NICARAGUA

29 November 2002 The 8th Ordinary Meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Association of Caribbean States:
Conscious of the importance of probity and public ethics and the need to combat the scourge of corruption wherever it takes place;
Taking into account the efforts undertaken in this regard by the people and Government of Nicaragua, widely recognized by the international community.
Agrees:
- To express our recognition, support and solidarity for the people and government of Nicaragua for their determined efforts and actions to combat acts of corruption;
- In this regard, we reiterate our endorsement of the Resolution to back Nicaragua in the fight against corruption, issued by the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS), CP/RES.824(1337/02), on September 25 of this year, which urges the international community and international financial institutions to support the government of this country in pursuing these objectives, while expressing support for the efforts that the government and people of Nicaragua are undertaking to fight corruption.
